Rotary/Flames Laboratory for Spinal Cord Research
Welcome to the Rotary/Flames Laboratory for Spinal Cord Research.
Principal Investigator: Peter K. Stys, MD, FRCP(C)
Research Goals: Understanding normal physiology and cellular/molecular injury mechanisms of axons, myelin and glial cells in the mammalian nervous system. These insights will drive the development for more effective therapies for common and debilitating disorders such as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, brain trauma and stroke.
Techniques: Our lab utilizes diverse advanced laser-scanning microscopy methods, many of which are custom-designed and built, biochemical techniques and electrophysiology to investigate axon function and injury mechanisms. Browse the Projects section to get an overview of the types of projects we are currently involved in.
Opportunities: Our lab hosts trainees and staff at all levels, from undergraduate summer students, to post-docs to junior research faculty. If you are interested in joining our lab, please contact email@example.com.
