Scholarships & Bursaries

The office of the Chancellor and Senate is pleased to offer several scholarships, bursaries and awards to University of Calgary students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and service to community. 

Chancellor's Club Named Scholarships:

The university and chancellor are grateful to the Chancellor's Club Scholarship donors who support full scholarships through an annual $10,000 donation.  These Chancellor's Club Scholarships are named for their donors:

Open to students enrolled in a full-time doctoral program at the University of Calgary.


University of Calgary Senate Scholarship:
Donor: Members of the Senate and Senate alumni of the University of Calgary

Value: Up to $5200
Number: One
Year Entering: 2nd, 3rd or 4th
Faculty: Any
Conditions: Academic merit and active involvement in campus and/or community activities

University of Calgary Senate Bursaries:
From the proceeds of the Chancellor's Challenge Golf Tournament. The number of bursaries granted increases with each successful year of the golf tournament. Bursaries are granted to both undergraduate and graduate students in proportion to the U of C student population: 70% to undergrad students; 30% to grad students.

University of Calgary Senate - Brenda Strafford Foundation Bursaries:

Donor: The Brenda Strafford Foundation in support of the Chancellor's Challenge Golf Tournament

Faculty: Any
Conditions: Academic merit and financial need

Chancellor's Graduate Medal
Awarded at Fall Convocation to the student in the Faculty of Graduate Studies who has shown outstanding scholastic achievement in any program leading to a Doctoral or Master's degree.

Muriel Kovitz Prize
Established in 1980 by theUniversity of Calgary Senate and Chancellor Emeritus Muriel Kovitz to commemorate Emeritus Mrs. Kovitz's term as Chancellor from December 1974 to 1978. Awarded to the student graduating from any undergraduate faculty with the highest overall grade point average in his/her final year at the University of Calgary.

Faculty or Fields of Study: Any
Awarded at June Convocation. Highest overall grade point average in final year at the University of Calgary. No application required. Eligible students will automatically be considered by the Student Awards Office for nomination.
