Dr. Robert Thirsk Biography

Former Canadian astronaut Dr. Robert Thirsk (O.C., O.B.C.) was elected the 13th chancellor of the University of Calgary in May 2014.

Thirsk has deep roots in Alberta. He attended R.T. Alderman Junior High and Lord Beaverbrook High Schools and has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Calgary. Thirsk also has a Master of Science in mechanical engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, along with a medicaldegree from McGill University.

Chancellor's Club

Chancellor's Club is where community, business and academic leaders come together for spirited conversations about compelling topics. Proceeds from Chancellor's Club memberships fund premiere entrance scholarship for extraordinary students.

Chancellor's Challenge

Hosted by Chancellor Robert Thirsk, this annual tournament raises funds to support bursaries for undergraduate and graduate students. To date, the Chancellor's Challenge Golf Tournament has raised over $1.2 million and awarded over 220 bursaries.
