The University of Calgary Chapter of SIAM, with the support of the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences, and the CMS Student Committee, is proud to host the first Calgary Applied and Industrial Mathematical Sciences Conference (CAIMSC) from May 21st to May 22nd 2017.

The conference welcomes researchers from the academia (faculty members, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students) and the industry. Potential presenters are invited to submit their abstract for a talk or a poster presentation by May 10th 2017.

Please note that this conference is not affiliated with the Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society (CAIMS).

The conference will focus on the following themes:

  • Applied PDE and Numerical Analysis
  • Mathematical Physics
  • Quantum Information
  • Geophysical Inversion
  • Mathematical Finance and Actuarial Science
  • Discrete Applied Mathematics
  • Biostatistics

 Moreover, we are pleased to welcome the following keynote speakers:

Additionally, a workshop, entitled “Internships and Career Development Workshop”, will be offered by MITACS Business Development.

Important dates:

  • May 10, 2017: Abstract submission deadline for both talk and poster presentations. Please send your abstracts using the link available on the registration page.
  • May 13, 2017: Notification of acceptance.
  • May 18, 2017: Registration deadline.
  • May 21-22, 2017: Conference.

Registration is free; however, all participants are required to register through the registration page.

Reimbursement and funding:

Partial travel and accommodation support will be available for a number of non-local student participants. If you would like to receive travel support, please indicate as such when registering.

Poster reimbursements will also be available to both local and non-local students. In addition, three poster prizes have been considered for the best three poster presentations.
