Fall move-in day: September 3, 2017

Each year, more than 400 staff and student volunteers welcome over 1,700 students to their new home during the annual September move-in day. Move-in day is held each year on the Labour Day weekend. In addition to staff from Residence Services, the Unicard office, and several other campus services offices are on hand to accept tuition payments and answer questions about meal plans, classes or other student services.

How it works

Know your move-in time

Your assigned move-in time depends on which floor you are moving into. You can find the floor number by looking at the first digit of your room number. For example, room 401 would be on the fourth floor, and you would move in with the first group (from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) If you show up for the wrong time, you will have to leave and return at the appropriate move-in time.

9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

All students moving onto even-numbered floors in Rundle, Kananaskis, Yamnuska, Olympus, Cascade, Glacier or Aurora Halls (your room number begins with 0, 2, 4 or 6)

Crowsnest Hall room numbers begin with 02, 04, 06, 08 or 10

1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

All students moving onto odd-numbered floors in Rundle, Kananaskis, Yamnuska, Olympus, Cascade, Glacier or Aurora Halls (your room number begins with 1, 3, 5 or 7)

Crowsnest Hall room numbers begin with 01, 03, 05, 07, 09 or 11

Arrive at the staging area

Lot 10 will be the staging area for all residents. There will be room for your vehicle in the staging lot only during your allotted arrival time. If you arrive before or after, please park at another campus lot. If you are arriving by taxi or foot, please proceed directly to your building.

Crowsnest Hall residents can go directly to Crowsnest Hall to check-in during their move-in time. They are not required to go to the staging area.

Get an unloading permit

At your staging area, you will receive an unloading permit and be directed to park in a specific parking spot.

Drive to your unloading zone

When directed to do so, follow the signs to the unloading zone. Once there, you will be required to provide your unloading permit to the traffic personnel.

Check-in & unload

Follow the signs to your check-in point. Your check-in package, including your room key, laundry card, Unicard (for those who submitted photos online) and parking permit (those that purchased) will be waiting for you. You will need photo ID to pick up your package. The "relocation technicians" will help you move your personal belongings to your room.

Once you have finished unloading, you will need to move your vehicle to one of the other campus parking lots. There will be free parking at lots 59, 12 and the Arts Parkade for the day.

Winter and spring/summer Terms

  1. Pickup your move-in package and room keys at the Residence Services office located in the Dining Centre (DC). Photo ID is required. Temporary parking is available in the loop in front of the building.
  2. Move into your new home. Moving carts are available at Residence Services to help you (a short wait time may be required).
  3. Get to know your new neighbours.
