Setting up your services

Setting up your services is an important part of your residence experience. Services offered by the University of Calgary include essentials you need to transition comfortably into your new home. Below, learn how to set yourself up with everything from your laundry to your landline.


Parking and transportation

From June 15 to June 30 residents can enter their name for a parking space in a lottery-based selection system administered through Parking and Transportation Services. The Car Share Program allows you to rent a car for an hour or a day. The UPass provides unlimited access on Calgary Transit to all full-time students for the academic year.


Meal plans are a convenient way to make sure you always have money for a hot meal, even during busy exam time.

You will have free Internet access through RezNet, the Internet service provider.

You can buy cable service for your room (not applicable for Kananaskis and Rundle Halls) through Shaw Communications.


All buildings have laundry facilities. A laundry card is included with your move-in package and you can add money to the card with cash, credit or debit.

Office services

If you need to photocopy, fax, rent a vacuum or replace a lost key, the Residence Services office can help. Learn more

Appliance rental or purchase

Microwaves, TVs, fridges and freezers can be rented through the Residence Students Association by emailing them at Hot plates can be purchased at the Residence Services office for students living in Yamnuska.


Recycling bins are conveniently located in each residence building for your use. Stations have been setup for: plastics, cardboard and paper items. Each bin is labelled by type in order to be as user-friendly as possible
