The Compliance team assists researchers with meeting the University's high ethical standards. This pertains to research involving human subjects, animals, and biohazards.
Staff liaises with all compliance boards / staff to streamline processes and procedures and enforce compliance institutionally.
The University of Calgary has two research ethics boards (REB) for research involving human subjects:
- The Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board (CHREB)
- The Conjoint Faculties Research Board (CFREB)
The Secretariat for CFREB is located in Research Services. It reviews and approves research with human subjects in non-medical faculties. All research, funded or not, that involves living human subjects must be reviewed and certified by the appropriate REB before beginning.
