4.0 FCE - Breadth requirement: Non-science options: The program must contain at least 10 FCE from outside the major field, of which at least four FCE must be non-science courses selected from the Faculties of Communication and Culture, Humanities, Fine Arts, Social Sciences and the Haskayne School of Business. Of these four FCE, students must take at least one FCE in each of at least two of the aforementioned Faculties.

The four FCE from other faculties may not be chosen from among the courses listed in 3.4 Program Requirements, Table I, Faculty of Science Section of this Calendar.

Science 311 may be counted among the four FCE from other faculties and is strongly recommended.

2.5 FCE - Open options

Note: Students are encouraged to take 400- and 500-level courses from the Senior options list in the third and fourth years. 600-level courses are available to fourth year students with prerequisites and consent of the Department offering the course.

Same as Major program, but 0.5 or 1.0 FCE options must be replaced by one of the following with approval of the Earth Science Program Advisor:

*Geography 391 and Geology 337 run for about 10-12 days prior to the Fall Term. In addition to these field school courses, students are permitted to register in 2.5 FCE in each of the Fall and Winter Terms (for a total of 3.0 FCE each term).
