Can We Help You?

We operate as a public interest law firm.

We represent clients who want to change the system: not just for themselves, but for the next person who shares their circumstance.

Such clients must want and be willing to challenge existing power structures, to seek greater transparency, to generate democratic accountability for society’s decision makers, and to enhance public participation in the exercise of public power.

We have the independence to provide quality pro bono legal services on the basis of merit alone. We will never ask ourselves whether taking a case will anger our more powerful colleagues or lucrative clients. If a meritorious case fits within our capacity and mandate, we are free to take it on.

Our Advisory Committee approves the clinic's case selection. Our mandate requires us to select cases that:

  1. Address systemic issues,
  2. Affect the disadvantaged or the environment, and
  3. Strengthen access to justice

If we are unable to assist you, we will do our best to refer the matter to a more appropriate resource.

Please note: People and/or organizations do not become clients of PILC unless and until PILC agrees to act for them and that representation will be confirmed in a retainer agreement or retainer letter in accordance with our policies. Unless you are an existing client, no information provided in an email or by regular mail will be considered confidential. Information should not be sent without prior agreement.
