Photo by Patrick Latter Did you ring in the New Year with a resolution to get healthy in 2013? World Health Day (April 7) is right around the corner, making it a good time to check in!

To help you out, Active Living (formerly Campus Recreation) has created the INside OUT Health and Fitness Challenge. From April 1 to 14, staff and faculty can log activities related to their health for a chance to win prizes.

“Participants can download the log sheet and keep track of points gained from activities they complete such as drinking a minimum of six eight-ounce glasses of water a day or participating in a fitness activity such as yoga,” says Shawna Trudel, membership co-ordinator for Active Living, “Active Living is offering a four-month All-Access membership to the person who gains the most points!”

In the case of a tie, there will be a draw for the prize. In addition, three secondary prizes of one-month memberships will be given to participants with high scores. Visit this webpage to download the log sheet which can be submitted to crmember@ucalgary.ca by April 18 to be entered in the challenge.

If these great prizes don’t provide enough motivation, how about free access to all Active Living facilities during the challenge?

This means that ALL staff and faculty can use the Fitness Centre, Aquatic Centre, Racquet Centre and Gymnastics Centre  from April 1 to 14. To gain access, staff and faculty just need to present their campus ID card at either the Kinesiology Client Services desk or at the Fitness Centre.

If the Kinetix Fitness and Wellness Centre in the Teaching, Research & Wellness Building on the Foothills Campus is more convenient, speak to Chris Gordon at the Client Services Desk about free access from April 1 to 14.

Also to help you gain points, a free yoga class will be offered from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Auxiliary Gym in the Kinesiology A Building on April 7.
