The 2013 Class Ambassadors have just been named, but they’re already planning their final semester and how to engage their fellow graduates in everything from convocation to the class project.
Dave Guzzardi, Raphael Jacob, Emily Macphail, Stefana Pancic, Kenya-Jade Pinto and Vishal Varshney were chosen as 2013 Class Ambassadors to represent the 5,000 members of the Class of 2013 as part of the University of Calgary Alumni Association’s Graduating This Year program.
An overall goal of the class ambassadors is to create excitement around convocation and Stefana Pancic won’t have any problem with that.
“Convocation is the highlight that keeps playing over and over in my head,” says Pancic. “I’m really excited to experience it with my whole family.”
Emily Macphail says she wants to “be part of something that helps students remember their university experience,” and all of the ambassadors will be working on a number of projects throughout their final semester to help students do just that.
Throughout their final semester, class ambassadors will be busy blogging, working on the Class of 2013 project and planning the closing event featuring Life After College author and motivational speaker, Jenny Blake.
Another key role of the class ambassadors is giving back to future alumni after they’ve graduated. They do so through the Graduating This Year program and the University of Calgary Alumni Association’s new alumni program.
“Convocation is an important part of university, but not the end,” says Raphael Jacob. “It’s just the beginning of a different type of involvement.”
