Understanding the copyright landscape

UToday HomeDecember 21, 2012

The University of Calgary now has a new copyright policy ― the Acceptable Use of Material Protected By Copyright.

The copyright landscape at the university has changed over the past year. This policy was created to guide the campus community in their obligations around copyright and to ensure copyright compliance.

The policy was originally developed by University Legal Services in collaboration with the Libraries and Cultural Resources (LCR) Copyright Office. The draft was vetted by numerous university committees and governing bodies throughout the fall 2012 term, and was posted for general comments from the campus community.

Detailed procedures to accompany the policy will be developed over the next two months. Visit LCR’s Copyright site and the Provost’s site for more information about copyright and the University of Calgary.
