Experts Online

Every day local, national and international media phone the University of Calgary looking for experts to speak on a variety of topics. Information Technologies has partnered with University Relations to launch an updated, easy to search database designed primarily for media, which gives them direct access to University of Calgary experts.

The database is called Experts Online.

By speaking to media, University of Calgary faculty position themselves as an expert to their faculty and university and to other academics/universities around the world. University of Calgary experts have valuable educated opinions in many subject areas and even those with extremely specialized research areas have knowledge and expertise on a wide variety of topics of interest to the general public. Sharing knowledge with media is a tangible example of the University of Calgary's commitment to return knowledge and value to the community.

Experts (Experts Online defines an expert as a PhD student or a university staff or faculty member) can easily add themselves to the Experts Online database and their information is easy to update. Experts can even request to have their information removed for a certain time period (while on holidays or sabbatical, for example).

If you are a University of Calgary PhD student, faculty or staff member and have not yet registered please follow these steps to create an Experts Online profile:

  1. Visit the Expert Online home page
  2. Select 'Create/Update profile'
  3. Enter phone, e-mail, languages spoken and subjects of expertise plus any other information then select 'Submit'
