Healthy Campus

Graduate Student Wellness/Healthy Campus Toolkit. Whether you are new to campus or in the middle of your graduate career, health and wellbeing is essential to academic success. We know that the majority of UCalgary students experience feelings of being overwhelmed, exhausted or stressed, and many students report feeling anxious, depressed, lonely or sad. Use this toolkit to help you think about what you need and to locate resources to help you.

  • Staying balanced throughout your graduate degree can be challenging. This interactive Wellness Guide is designed to provide the top resources, tips and strategies to help you stay well during the busy academic year.

  • iBiology Young Scientists Survival Guide has videos on multiple topics, including how to pic a graduate advisor, designing effective scientific presentations and careers outside the lab.
  • The Jack Project is a national network of young leaders transforming they way we think about mental health. Check out Jack.org to learn more about mental health, ways to help your friends, and how to get involved.
  • Interested in Entrepreneurship? Take a look at Entrepreneurship 101 - Canada's largest live and online entrepreneurship course offered by MaRS. Also check out their online library with templates, workbooks, reference guides and more. 
  • The Calgary Public Library has great resources and workshops to help you with your job search and skill development. Read their Career Blog for info on upcoming events (many of which are FREE!). Do you have a library membership? Then you also have access to many online courses in areas such as Project Management, Intro to Microsoft programs, Personal Finance and more!
  • It's a Juggle is your toolkit for building sustainable career success. Juggle curates many online resources to help you navigate your education and employment success.
  • From Scholar to Dollar, by Anna Harrison, is an engaging online book that talks about life as a graduate student, and provides 15 simple steps to arm yourself with skills to be successful.
