Professor Clem Martini is equally at home writing for adults or young people, whether for live theatre, film or television. He's a three time winner of the Writers Guild of Alberta Drama Prize, a Governor General Nominee for his anthology "A Three Martini Lunch", a Seminovitch Prize Nominee, a National Playwriting Competition winner for "The Life History of the African Elephant" and is the Past President of the Playwrights Guild of Canada.
His book "Bitter Medicine: A Graphic Memoir of Mental Illness" is a winner of the Calgary Book Award, and was chosen as 2012 University of Calgary Common Reading Program Selection. "Feather and Bone: The Crow Chronicles", his trilogy of novels for young adults has been translated into French, German, Dutch, Swedish, and Japanese and optioned for film. His texts on playwriting, The Blunt Playwright, The Greek Playwright, and The Ancient Comedians, published by Playwrights Canada Press are employed by universities and colleges across the country. Professor Martini presently serves as the Chair of the Division of Drama at the University of Calgary.
