From the Editors
We are pleased to present the first electronic issue of Calgary Papers in Linguistics published by the Department of Linguistics at the University of Calgary. This publication continues Calgary Working Papers in Linguistics and preserves the numeration of volumes.
- Please note the following changes in the publication:
- CPL is no longer available in print.
- All papers are reviewed by the editors and at least one referee.
- Papers accepted for publication in CPL represent not only work in progress, but also completed projects, such as honours theses, MA theses, etc.
The first two papers in this issue are slightly modified versions of honours theses submitted to the Department of Linguistics at the University of Calgary. Heather Bliss’s paper investigates the semantic properties of the bare noun in Turkish. The paper by Corey Telfer examines the phenomenon of palatalization in Lakhota. Finally, the paper by Antonio A. González Poot investigates Spanish three-positional word-medial rhymes, and represents his MA paper submitted to the Department of Linguistics at McGill University.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the Department of Linguistics at the University of Calgary for their support in restructuring the publication. We are also grateful to the Graduate Students’ Association of the University of Calgary for providing the necessary funding to complete this project. We would also like to thank the University of Calgary Printing Services for their high quality work in the past years. Our final word of thanks is owed to each of our contributors for their submissions to the present volume of CPL.
