Telephone - Standard

This service is for: 
Faculty & Staff

The University of Calgary currently supports two types of phone systems:

  1. Standard phones, connected to a standard telephone jack.
  2. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phones, connected to an Ethernet cable

Standard telephones includes dial-tone, free local calls, voice mailboxes, call number display, and multi-line capabilities for administrative functions.

How do I set-up a new mailbox from my on-campus, standard telephone?

Dial * (star) 98 or the internal system number 403-220-8100

  1. Enter your temporary security code (password) given to you by Voice services.
  2. Create a new security code** - must be a minimum of eight digits and must not start with zero. Enter your new security code, followed by the # key. You will be asked to enter this once again for confirmation.
  3. Record your first and last name - Press 2 to start recording and press 2 5 to save the recorded name.
  4. Record your personal greeting - Press 2 to start recording and press 2 5 to save your personal greeting.

** Please choose a number that you will remember and will be difficult for others to guess. If you forget this password, Voice Services will be able to assist you. 

How do I set-up a new mailbox from another location, on or off campus?

Dial the internal system number 403-220-8100

  1. Follow the instructions to get to the appropriate menu item that asks for your mailbox number. Press the # (pound) key to indicate that you have a mailbox on the system
  2. Enter your mailbox number (your telephone number)
  3. Enter your temporary security code (password) given to you by Voice services.
  4. Create a new security code** - must be a minimum of eight digits and must not start with zero. Enter your new security code, followed by the # key. You will be asked to enter this once again for confirmation.
  5. Record your first and last name - Press 2 to start recording and press 2 5 to save the recorded name.
  6. Record your personal greeting - Press 2 to start recording and press 2 5 to save your personal greeting.
