Faculty & Staff

A securID gives you access to secure university applications (e.g. PeopleSoft).
Note: If you are only entering or approving expenses within PeopleSoft, you DO NOT need a SecurID.

To request a SecurID, please contact the IT Support Centre at (403) 220-5555 or email

Your SecurID passcode uses two-factor authentication to log in to secure sites by replacing potentially vulnerable passwords.

It consists of two parts, a static PIN and a dynamic tokencode.

How do I request a SecurID?

Please contact the IT Support Centre at 403.220.5555, email or submit a service request.

How do I create a new PIN?

A PIN is static and is defined by the user. It can only be 6-8 characters in length and only lowercase letters and digits are allowed. Uppercase letters and special characters CANNOT be used.

For instance, 'my1pin' would be an acceptable PIN. Your SecurID PIN is different from your IT Account password.

Security Precautions:

  • Do not share your PIN with anyone.
  • Never write your PIN down anywhere.
  • If you believe your PIN has been compromised, contact the IT Support Centre immediately.

Please see the Create your SecurID PIN user guide at the bottom of this page for instructions.

What is my SecurID tokencode?

A Tokencode is dynamic and comprises of the 6 digits displayed on your software SecurID. It changes every 60 seconds. You would need to configure a RSA SecurID Token on a device of your choice to get a tokencode.

Please see the appropriate user guide for your device at the bottom of this page for instructions.

How do I sign into Admin VPN or myUofC portal using my securID?

To sign into secure applications such as Admin VPN or myUofC portal, use the following credentials

      Username: IT username
      Password: SecurID Passcode = PINtokencode (e.g. my1pin035821)

What causes my SecurID tokencode to be rejected?

  • If you attempt to use the same tokencode to sign-on to more than one application (i.e. using my1pin035821 to sign on to both VPN and myUofC). A SecurID tokencode can only be used ONCE.
  • If the tokencode you are using changes before your sign-on is validated centrally.
  • You may need to resynchronize your SecurID tokencode if you are unable to sign-on to myUofC or VPN. Please see the 'Resynchronizing and Changing your PIN' user guide at the bottom of this page for details.

If you still cannot log on using your SecurID, please contact the IT Support Centre at 403.220.5555 email or submit a service request.
