"A positive approach to career management that promotes cooperation between employees and managers across the university."
UNavigate is a career development program designed for support staff and management and professional employees of the University of Calgary.
We reached out to senior leaders across campus and asked them for their thoughts on the value and importance of career development.
UNavigate is designed to help all employees explore their unique and individualized career growth at the University of Calgary. UNavigate provides tools and resources to aid in the development of your personal career path.
A career development program considers all employees to be assets of their organization and promotes a shared accountability for career planning. Employees own their career development, leaders/managers enable it, and the organization supports it. Career development is the strategic approach to integrating an individual's career desires and aspirations with the organization's business objectives with the intention to drive engagement and retention.
The University of Calgary encourages employees to develop in ways that link to Eyes High. Career development is a partnership between the employee, the manager, and the University.
The University of Calgary supports job-related development opportunities for employees based on performance, talent, and potential in addition to mobility between job families and departments.
The University already provides a number of programs and benefits to assist employees with their development, all of which are summarized in the University People Plan.
