Course 1 – Creative Practice: An Introduction and Course 2 – Creativity in Communication are offered together in tandem in the Summer of 2012, each with one week of face-to-face classes in Calgary with online follow-up.
Course 3 – Design Thinking Across the Disciplines and Course 4 – Designing Education for Creativity are offered in tandem in the Winter of 2013, each consisting of two consecutive weekends of face-to-face classes with online follow-up. Course 1 – Creative Practice: An Introduction is the prerequisite for all other courses in the program.

Summer 2012 - Face-to-face in Calgary with online follow up
Course 1 - Creative Practice: An Introduction
This is the introductory course for this program where participants explore and develop individual and collaborative creative practice. An understanding of creative development strands is developed through participant engagement in creative practice. This is supported with an examination of contemporary creativity vocabulary and theory and the nature of idea generation and development. This highly accessible course features engagement in collaborative, generative and experimental practice to enable personal and professional creative development.

Course 2 – Creativity in Communication
This course focuses on the personal and professional creative development of participants in the diverse field of communication. Particular emphasis is placed on writing creatively while contemporary communication media are explored as well. Developing creative practice in communication is central to enabling creative practice across the disciplines. Participants will develop their own creative path in writing and communication.

Course 3 – Design Thinking Across the Disciplines
In this course, participants will expand their creative development by exploring the creative possibilities of social, scientific and entrepreneurial innovation. The range of creative exploration possibilities for participants in this creatively rich and diverse course is endless. This course focuses on the nature of creative development across the discipline spectrum. Participants do not have to have expertise in any of these areas to engage in this course. Interdisciplinary design thinking, along with individual and collaborative creative practice will be a central feature of this course.

Course 4 - Designing Education for Creativity
This course focuses on designing space for creativity in educational practice through the exploration of organizational structures, methodology and pedagogy to enable creative practice most relevant to the educational environment of the participant. Emphasis is placed on strategies and tactics for creating a space for the creation of original work above and beyond traditional educational practice. Study of creative practice from educational environments from around the globe will serve as a research support for work in this course. Focus on the personal and professional creative development of participants through individual and collaborative creative practice continues in this course.
