Outcomes of Caregiving for Older Adults My scholarship interests broadly focus on how to improve the quality of life for older adults. Along these lines, one of my research projects is to study the impact of family caregiving on the economic and health outcomes of informal caregivers (i.e., family and friends) for older adults.
Aging-in-place and Long-term Care in Later Life I am interested in studying what makes aging-in-place possible and how older adults with chronic health conditions and impairment can be better served at the home- and community-based settings.
Aging in Poverty and Wealth Inequality in Later Life Another area of interest is to study older adults who is living in poverty and its risk factor; and the predictors for wealth inequality in later life.
Perceived Discrimination in Older Adults Experiences of chronic discrimination are detrimental to well-being. My interests are to examine how perceived discrimination impact older adults' subjective, financial, and social well-being.
Psychosocial Risk Factors for Dementia There is scant research that explains the risk factors for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease from non-medical perspectives. I conduct a literature review about psychosocial risk factors and will be pursuing a community-based study.
Cross-national/Cultural Comparative Study Regarding these research agenda, I conduct research both at the individual level with a country and using a cross-national or cross-cultural comparative study in a way of focusing welfare regime.
Population-based Secondary Data Analyses Dataset that I have been and would be interested in working on include the followings:
US Health Retirement Study (HRS) and Korean Longitudinal Study on Ageing (KLoSA);
Canada General Social Survey (GSS) and Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS);
Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA);
European Community Household Panel (ECHP);
and Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).
