Michael Hewitt Benn

On Wednesday, Dec. 21, Michael Hewitt Benn passed away at the age of 78 after a long battle with heart problems. Mike is survived by his wife, Manju Kapoor, of the Department of Biological Sciences, and by his daughter, Suezan Brady, of Calgary.

Mike came to what was then the Calgary Campus of the University of Alberta, in 1961, to bolster the "Organic Division.” He had well over 150 scientific publications and was active in research right up to his illness.

In lieu of a funeral, an on-campus celebration of Mike's life is planned for Friday, Jan. 20, from 4 - 6 p.m. in the Cassio Room in MacEwan Hall.
