External Relations has a compelling story to tell as the University of Calgary strategically refines its focus, identifies its strengths and guiding values, and positions itself as a leading institution of learning and discovery.
The story of our goals and accomplishments must be shared among the U of C’s communities of alumni, staff, students and faculty. The heart of the university’s teaching and research achievements, and the relevance of our successes, challenges and opportunities must be communicated to those in Calgary, Alberta and Canada. And the University’s vital role in supporting the strength of local and provincial communities must be emphasized to government.
Telling the U of C’s story is just one part of the relationship-building that is the mandate of External Relations. Our role is also to ensure that the university is fully engaged with its internal and external communities–and that they are engaged with us. The university needs to demonstrate to all of our stakeholders that post-secondary education, and in particular the U of C, is an essential part of their social and economic well-being and enlist their support as we plan for the future.
