The Calgary Institute for the Humanities is pleased to present a talk by Ishtiyaque Haji: Obligation and Luck
Roughly, something is subject to luck if it is beyond our control. I first motivate the view that moral obligation requires alternative possibilities: nothing can be morally obligatory for one unless one could have done otherwise. I then exploit this result to outline different ways in which moral obligation is susceptible to luck.
The lectures are free and open to the public. A reception will follow and all are welcome.
