One-Month Intensive Summer Course

Building Fluency: Language and Culture

Join students from all over the world building their speaking and listening skills in our five- week summer course. This integrated, skills-based course uses communicative tasks, cooperative learning, social activities, and project-based workshops to develop fluency and functional language skills. Six levels from high beginner to advanced, take a holistic approach to oral communication. This summer take English out of the textbook and into real life, your road to effective communication starts here.

Tuition includes the following:

  • Orientation session—including a campus tour and U of C identification card
  • 135 hours of English instruction, workshops, and activities.
  • Textbooks and handouts
  • Use of the University of Calgary library and recreational facilities
  • Welcome event and graduation party
  • One day trip to the Dinosaur Provincial Park and the Royal Tyrrell Museum.
  • Health insurance (International students only) See benefit summary
  • Wireless internet access on campus and use of library desktop computers.
  • A certificate and evaluation at the end of the course
  • Average class size of 16
