About the Program

The BSc Environmental Science Program launched in 1997 and has more than 350 graduates working throughout Alberta, Canada and the world.  We emphasize a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding environmental issues facing society while providing each student with expertise in one of six concentrations .  As such, it is a Non-Departmental Program, administered within the Faculty of Science with links to the Faculty of Arts.  It is designed to be a small program, with some 40 students a year, where hands-on experience is central.

Our Team

We have five faculty members each representing a key discipline in environmental science, an administrative & student programs officer, and a technologist (Directory).  We also benefit from the expertise of emeritus professors, adjunct professors, and other professionals from academia, private industry, governnment, and non-governmental organizations.

Our Facilities

We have a well-equipped lab for analyzing chemical and biological components of our environment.  Priority is given to ENSC undergraduates, but other users may be considered on a cost-recovery basis.  Please contact our technologist for more information.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Dr. Wil Holden for winning a Students' Union Teaching Excellence Award for his teaching in ENSC 503, Environmental Assessment and Hearings!

Featured Seminars

ISEEE (Institute for Sustainable Energy, Environment and Economy) has seminars of interest to ENSC every Monday, 3-4 pm, in EEEL 210. Please see the ISEEE website for details.
