The Computer Science Graduate Society (CSGS) represents all graduate students in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary. All graduate students are automatically members with the CSGS acting as advocates on their behalf. We encourage students to be involved both professionally and socially within the department and we try to host many events and seminars to encourage intradepartmental interactions.
The Graduate Students’ Association manages a number of events throughout the academic year, including self-defense training, social activities, and professional development activities. The Graduate Students’ Association also provides the health and dental coverage for graduate students. Reach the GSA at gsa.ucalgary.ca.
Beyond the programs offered by the GSA, the Faculty of Graduate Studies also offers programs specifically catering to the needs of early career academics. Everything from networking skills, presentation skills, and classroom management training are offered through My Grad Skills, a program offered through the Faculty of Graduate Studies to supplement the professional education of graduate students beyond what they receive in their home faculties. You can reach FGS at grad.ucalgary.ca and My Grad Skills at www.ucalgary.ca/mygradskills.
