Career Planning for Prospective Students

Making Career Decisions


Personal Counselling Workshops

  • Wellness Workshops   Students are invited to enhance their personal wellness by participating in this series.  All workshops are designed and facilitated by Wellness Centre staff especially for U of C students.
  • Relationship Enhancement Workshop:  A weekend workshop for couples designed and facilitated by Wellness Centre staff especially for U of C students.
  • Social Anxiety/Shyness Workshop:  A group to help student increase strategies to increase social comfort and relationships.

Career Workshops

Designed to assist you in the career decision-making process and in developing the career planning skills you need for a successful career future. Offered in a modular fashion - take as few or as many sections as you wish.

Choosing a Major is for students just starting university or for those considering a program change.

Life After Graduation is for students close to completing their degree and looking for a career direction after graduation.

Life After Grad School is for students contemplating the next step – academia or the corporate world.


Academic Workshops

For All Currently Enrolled Students:

  • Understanding your Learning Style - Sometimes the way you learn doesn’t quite fit with the way the course is being taught, which can lead to feeling frustrated. Discover your learning strengths and weaknesses and learn strategies on how to succeed in classes that are outside your strength areas.
  • Don't Burn Out - Time, Stress, Sleep Deal with stress and avoid burnout.
  • Writing Multiple-Choice Tests - Many students excel at written tests but struggle with writing multiple-choice tests. Learn strategies on how to work your way through to the right answer on your multiple-choice test and achieving higher grades.
  • My Mid-Terms Were A Disaster- Why? - Learn strategies for figuring out what your professors expect from you - what you should know for your test. This workshop will focus on how to effectively prepare for and write tests.
  • Write Your Tests Without Worry - Did you know that too much anxiety during tests can result in lower grades? Through relaxation techniques and cognitive strategies, you will lean how to manage your anxiety during tests feeling more in control and performing better.
  • Procrastination: How Not To - explore why you procrastinate and then learn strategies to overcome procrastination.
  • Procrastination: Making Choices - (Full Workshop) Explore when and why you procrastinate and develop strategies to overcome it.
