Risk Factors

Who is at Risk?
Everyone is at risk.
It becomes more common after age 50.
Both men and women can get colon cancer. 
People with a family history of colon cancer or polyps (small growths in the colon) have a higher risk of getting colon cancer.

Colon Cancer & Gender
Colon Cancer affects females and males almost equally.
Female's lifetime chance of developing colon cancer is 1 in 16.
Male's lifetime chance of developing colon cancer is 1 in 14.

Colon Cancer & Age
92-94% of new cases of colon cancer will be diagnosed in those aged 50 years and older.
