Graduate Courses

Specific Requirements

MSc:

  • Three half-course equivalents (500 level or above) are required.
  • Normally a minimum of three half-courses will be Chemistry courses.

PhD:

  • Four half course equivalents (500 level or above) are required for students entering with a four-year BSc degree or equivalent. Normally, a minimum of three half-courses will be Chemistry courses.
  • A minimum of one and a maximum of three half-courses are required for students entering the PhD with an MSc degree or equivalent. The number of half courses required will be determined by the student's background in relation to area of interest, and in consultation between the student and the graduate coordinator.

Additional Information:

  • Students may apply to the graduate coordinator to take more than one course outside of Chemistry for credit.
  • One of the graduate level half courses in both the MSc and PhD may be an Independent Study (700-level) course.

  • 'B- is the minimum pass for students in the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Students who accumulate two grades of B- or lower may be required to withdraw regardless of overall GPA in the program.'
