Welcome to the Calgary COPD & Asthma Program website!

The Calgary COPD and Asthma Program is an Alberta Health Services program.  We are a team of certified respiratory educators and respirologists.  We strive to be a leading centre in Canada working with patients and other health care professionals in treating asthma, COPD, tobacco reduction and chronic cough.  We have created this website to:

  • share medically accurate information with patients and health care providers
  • encourage patients to work with their health care providers in following Canadian guidelines to gain maximum control of their respiratory condition

Did you know....

...that stomach acid regurgitating up into your esopagus and larynx (voice box) can cause a chronic cough even though you don't feel any heartburn? The larynx is much more sensitive to nasty substances trying to get into the lungs than our esophagus is.
