Dr. Vivian Lalande, Associate Professor

Introduction

I am an Associate Professor in the Counselling Psychology Program. My primary responsibilities are related to the Masters of Counselling Program which utilizes a distributive learning approach. Distributed learning involves teaching and learning using a combination of the Internet (Blackboard), classroom teaching and other relevant mediums. I will be the Coordinator of the Masters' of Counselling Program from July 1, 2008 until July 1, 2009.

I have an extensive background as a Counselling Psychologist working with a variety of client issues and counselling approaches. My interests include career counselling and development, counselling girls and women and program development and evaluation. On a personal note, I enjoy activities such as cycling and spending time with family and my miniature schnauzer, Gus.

Teaching

I primarily teach practicum courses in the Masters of Counselling Program (CAAP 611 & 619).

I am a member of the Canadian Research Working Group on Evidence-Based Practice in Career Development. This research group was awarded a Human Resources and Skills Development Canada grant for $1,164,092 in 2007 for a 3-year project.
