Washington D.C Alumni Idea Exchange | Feb. 21, 2017

Not since Ronald Reagan’s 1986 Tax Reform Act has taxation dominated policy discussions in the United States.

That’s why we are inviting University of Calgary alumni, donors and friends in Washington, D.C., to an intimate breakfast on Feb. 21 to explore what proposed tax reforms could mean for the U.S. economy and the rest of the world.

University of Calgary President and Vice-Chancellor Elizabeth Cannon will host distinguished and influential economist Jack Mintz, President’s Fellow of UCalgary’s School of Public Policy, in a conversation about the likelihood of U.S. tax reform and its global implications.

Join President Cannon, Jack Mintz and your local UCalgary community in this thought-provoking and timely discussion.

New York Alumni Idea Exchange | Feb. 22, 2017

What characteristics propel people into leadership roles?

You might think a successful track record, strong corporate network and a personable approach are key to advancement in the workplace.

But sometimes it appears those climbing the corporate ladder can be greedy, narcissistic, overconfident and even a little manipulative.

University of Calgary President and Vice-Chancellor Elizabeth Cannon will host Justin Weinhardt, assistant professor with the Haskayne School of Business, in a conversation about the light and dark sides of business leadership.

Adding to this Idea Exchange will be distinguished UCalgary alumnus Kent Clark, BComm’86, managing director at Goldman Sachs.

Join President Cannon, Justin Weinhardt, Kent Clark and your local UCalgary community in a conversation about the types of behaviours celebrated in business — and how championing humility could change the definition of corporate success.
