Alumni Connect International Journeys

Sometimes small steps and big leaps can turn into an amazing journey

UCalgary Alumni Connect International Journeys is a monthly online feature series catching up with UCalgary alumni living around the world.

Via a live webinar and chat-based networking session, be inspired by the stories of UCalgary alumni who’ve blazed their own trail of personal and professional opportunity and learn and connect directly with them and ask your own questions.

How it works: Check out our upcoming International Journey online events below. Register to attend and then watch your email for the confirmation containing both the Adobe Connect webinar and online chat link. Use the webinar link at 7 p.m. MDT at each date listed below and post-webinar, chat 1:1 with your fellow grads and our host.

Upcoming International Journeys:

Your international career starts now

Do you aspire to have a global career?

Then join UCalgary alumna Laura Buhler, BComm’13, on March 1 to discover experiences close to home that’ll open you up to the rest of the world.

“We’ll not only focus on my career post-graduating, which has certainly been international, but the one that started from day one at UCalgary,” says Laura.

International Journeys with Laura Buhler

Live webinar and digital chat-based networking event

12:15 – 1:15 p.m. MST

Your guide for this international journey…

Laura Buhler is a self-described “global-citizen of Canada.” She has lived and worked in five countries including Rwanda, where she started her career as a microfinance fellow at Kiva, an international nonprofit whose mission is to alleviate poverty. Today, Laura calls San Francisco home and is the executive director of The C100, an organization whose mandate is to accelerate Canadian entrepreneurship through various programs and workshops held in Silicon Valley.

How did Laura start her international career?

Laura credits her UCalgary international business and French studies and involvement with AIESEC on campus (a non-profit that focuses on developing youth leaders through international experiences) with launching her global career.

Come and learn from Laura’s journey and ask her questions on how you can start building a global career today.
