2007-08 Recipients

Thanks to the support of thousands of alumni and friends of the University of Calgary, the U of C Alumni Association has given more than $1.2 million in student awards since 1975. On January 16, 2008 the Alumni Association hosted its annual Alumni Scholarship Celebration, honouring 45 recipients of 2007-08 scholarships and bursaries.

Gable Gross, an economics major in the Faculty of Social Sciences, was one of the recipients who at the event had the opportunity to meet the distinguished alumnus, Dr. Maurice Yacowar, for whom his scholarship is named. "It's a great honour to be a part of the Alumni Association bursary program and it will make me think to give back to support students in the future," Gable said.

"The honour is all mine," added Dr. Yacowar, BA'62, the U of C's 1986 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. "I was honoured 22 years ago and this scholarship program allows me to remain connected to other scholars like Gable."
