SUCCESS Program
SUCCESS was designed specifically with new students to the University of Calgary in mind. You’ve worked hard, and we know you have what it takes to thrive at the U of C. The SUCCESS program is more than just beating the rush; it’s about making sure your path to success is smooth and clear. The U of C has extended numerous benefits to SUCCESS students, making the transition here as easy as possible.
How Do I Qualify?
You can qualify for SUCCESS in one of the four following ways:
- Qualifying to our top scholarships (Chancellors Club & Schulich School or Engineering) and having an overall average of 88%+
- Being a full IB diploma student with a minimum predicted grade of 30 points (including bonus points)
- Being part of our AP+ Program
- Or having a first semester average of 95%+ on 2 academic subjects (transcripts required by March 15)*

What is SUCCESS?
SUCCESS was designed to reward high achieving students and ease the transition from high school to university. Unique to the University of Calgary, the SUCCESS program is offered to high school students with no prior college or university level credit, who meet one of the four qualifying criteria.
Students who qualify for SUCCESS receive early course registration, guaranteed accommodation in on-campus residence, regular email updates and much more.

Early Course Registration:
Get the classes you want, putting you well on your way for academic success. Take advantage of the opportunity to pick your classes before everyone else with your SP early access to course registration. Maintaining good academic standing will allow you to extend this benefit into your second year, where you will be able to choose classes during SUCCESS Registration Day.
Campus ID Card:
While your classmates are waiting in line to grab their ID cards in September, you will already be on your way with early access to your student ID card! That means you will have more time to get your books, buy some DINO's gear, grab a coffee and much more.
Early Locker Registration:
The Students' Union [SU] and the U of C have teamed together to offer a unique benefit to SUCCESS students! Early Locker Registration gives SP students the opportunity to rent lockers from the SU in a convenient area of campus in relation to your classes two months before regular registrations.
Get acquainted with campus during the summer!
Residence:
All students who apply for residence before the deadline receive guaranteed residence in their first year. As a SUCCESS student, you'll receive guaranteed residence every year while at the U of C.*
In your first year, you will be entered into lottery draw for the chance to for stay in one of 100 single rooms in traditional residence or one of 10 rooms in the new Living Learning Community (LLC).
*Students must maintain a minimum of 3.5GPA after their first year in order to be eligible for this guaranteed residence offer.
Be sure to apply for residence by April 1st, 2010 in order to be eligible for these benefits.
Health and Recreation:
Fight the freshmen 15 by working out at the U of C's world-class fitness facilities over the summer break. Here you will find the Jack Simpson Gym an indoor running track and a 4-story climbing wall. The Racquet Centre is the largest of its kind in Calgary, containing squash, racquetball, table tennis, and badminton facilities.
SUCCESS Day of U:
April 9, 2010 marks the official recognition day for all U of C SUCCESS Students. You will be able to take advantage of all of the perks and benefits of Have a Day on U, while mingling and meeting your fellow SUCCESS members.
All students who attend the SUCCESS Day on U will receive a welcome package with U of C swag.

Bookstore Discount:
A 20% discount, courtesy of the University Bookstore, will be available to 2010 SUCCESS students.

*Be sure to visit the University Bookstore in the MacEwan Student Centre (Room 155) between the hours of 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday or 10:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday.*
Becoming a part of the University Community means more than just being a student, it's about taking control of your experiences. Early registration to campus events, exploring leadership programs, and checking out special events and lecture series are just a few ways to be involved.
Access to Campus:
SUCCESS students are invited to enroll in University of Calgary Leadership (UCL) program with priority registration in spring orientation workshops / lecture series.

Students will also get to keep in touch with campus through regular updates and invitations to special campus events.
