GCE (British System) Students
The University of Calgary welcomes applications from students who have completed the GCE system.
About the GCE System
Students must present five distinct and appropriate GCE/GCSE subjects, with at least two at the Advanced (or Principal) level. Any subject presented at both Advanced and GCSE or Ordinary levels will not be considered as two distinct subjects.
- At least two subjects at the 'Advanced' Level; (Example) Example: GCE A2; Principal/Pre-University; CXC CAPE Unit 2; Singapore-Cambridge Advanced level H2
- The remaining three subjects may be from the 'Ordinary' Level: (Example)Example: GCSE or Ordinary Level; CXC Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC)
Grades that are unacceptable for admission
Any subject presented at both Advanced and Ordinary Level will not be considered as two distinct subjects. The following grades are not acceptable for admission:
- Grades of 'D' and 'E' at the Ordinary, GCSE and GCE AS Levels
- Grades of 7, 8 and 9 on School Certificates
- Grades of IV and V from CXC Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC)
What do I do afterwards?
If your application is accepted, an admission package will be sent to you in the mail. You will need to accept or decline your offer of admission through your online Student Centre. Registration appointment times are assigned once you have accepted our offer of admissions. You may wish to seek advice from your faculty to ensure you are registering for appropriate courses. You are advised to register at your earliest eligibility after you have been admitted.
