As a student of the University of Calgary you have access to fantastic health & recreation facilities through University of Calgary Active Living. You pay for this access as part of your student fees. The memberships run concurrent with each semester you are registered in:
Your facilities include:
How do I access the facilities?
Where are the facilities?
Your fitness and recreation facilities and locker-rooms are located in the Faculty of Kinesiology, A&B Blocks.
What about lockers?
Active Living provides coin lockers for day-use while working out. The lockers cost .25¢ per entry. The money we collect from this nominal fee goes into maintaining the lockers, and to subsidize programs for students. A number of semester lockers are available for term use on a first come, first serve basis. Students can reserve a locker for the semester by visiting Active Living Client services. A towel service is also available.
University of Calgary Active Living is the largest provider of fitness, recreation and outdoor programs located on a University campus. We publish regular program guides, for our health and fitness and Outdoor Centre programs which are available across campus. You can also find e-versions of the program guides on our websites.
Intramural Sports and UofC Sports Clubs
Intramural sports and University Sports Clubs are a great way to meet people and get involved in campus life. The Intramurals guide is included in the Fall Active Living program guide, available across campus. You can also find more information about Intramurals in the intramurals section.
Active Living members must present proof of membership before accessing the facilities. The Aquatic Centre, Gymnasiums, Gymnastics Centre and Outdoor Centre climbing walls require you to obtain a wristband before using the facilities. A wristband can be obtained from Client Services (KNA 104) by presenting them with your student I.D. card. The Fitness Centre, Racquet Centre and the Olympic Oval require you to present your U of C ID card before entering those facilities.
All current registered students become All Access members of Active Living through full payment of tuition. Students may also purchase family memberships at special student rates at Client Services (KNA 104). These memberships include access to a wide range of facilities.
As part of The University of Calgary Faculty of Kinesiology, Active Living is one of the largest student employers on Campus. Employment opportunities are available year round, please watch for postings. We also provide practicum and volunteer opportunities that can be tailored to meet your specific needs.
Basketballs, volleyballs, and badminton nets are available from Client Services (KNA 104). An Active & Valid U of C ID card is required to borrow equipment. All borrowed equipment must remain on campus.
Active Living has an extensive range of programs targeted at the student population. Activities include traditional intramural sport activities, learn to programs, certifications, fitness programs and extensive outdoor programming. Check out the various program offerings identified throughout our website.
