Resources

Living with a chronic disease like Type 1 Diabetes may
have an impact on your daily family life. To help with
some of these challenges, our team has collected
the following local resource information.

Mental Health and Emotional Support

The psycho-social team (psychology and social work) provides services to children, youth and parents who are struggling with concerns related to diabetes such as needle fears, adjusting to a new diagnosis of diabetes, coping with and managing diabetes care, child and parent conflict and parenting challenges. Please ask a member of your diabetes team for a referral.

Children, youth and their parents may have other mental health or life challenges that are not directly related to their diabetes that they may need support with. Please see the resources below.

For immediate safety concerns (thoughts of suicide/serious self-harm), please visit the Emergency Department, Alberta Children's Hospital or your local Emergency Department.
